Welcome to Grade 7 World Languages!
Salk Middle School’s Introduction to World Languages program starts in the 7th grade. During the quarter, we will learn the basics in three different world languages: Spanish, French, and German. We will spend approximately 11 days on each language. During the quarter, students will be organizing their notes and classwork in an interactive notebook. They will need a composition notebook dedicated to only this course. Students will be graded on the completion of their interactive notebook assignments and their performance on verbal assessments of the topics covered in each language. A rubric will be provided for each unit, and students will be expected to share what they have learned and study with their parents. We will also have a final project in which students will research and share about a country that speaks Spanish, French, or German. I expect students to be ready, responsible, and respectful each day. Students need to bring their interactive notebook, planner, and a writing utensil to class. Phones and food/beverages are not allowed in my classroom unless students have prior permission from me. |
Welcome to Grade 8 World Languages!
Grade 8 students will be continuing their exploration of world languages this year. This year, we will again learn three languages: Spanish, French, and German. We will spend approximately 13 days on each language. Instead of learning the same thing in all three languages like last year, in 8th grade, we will have a theme to each unit. Each language will have a different theme. For each unit, students will be graded on one or more assignments and a vocabulary quiz. Each unit will also have a final project that will allow students to demonstrate what they have learned. I expect students to be ready, responsible, and respectful each day. Students need to bring their planner, binder, and a writing utensil to class. Phones and food/beverages are not allowed in my classroom unless students have prior permission from me. |
